Dhanvantari Trayodashi :-

Two days, preceding Deepawali, on the thirteenth day of the dark half of Kartika, Dhan Teras or Dhanvantari Trayodashi is observed with enormous delight and cheerfulness. In particular the physician-community worship Dhanvantari, who is considered to be the Physician of gods and who materialized at the churning of the ocean.
He is also named Sudha-panias he emerged from the deep Sea bearing nectar in his hands. The people wake up in the early hours of the morning and great themselves in new clothes after their morning ablutions and then observe a fast. At sunset an earthen - lamp is customarily lit in front of the door of every house and the fast is broken fresh utensils are purchased on this day as it is considered extremely propitious.
