Our Bakery Ship
More than often, you will find Mr. Kumar Murthy and his son Vikram at our 20-feet long mahogany counter rather than in their cabins. Obviously, with around 300 sweet, salty and premium delicacies to choose from, our customers need help and space! While moving about from the smart dark chocolate section to the crispy and snappy biscuit section at the other end of the counter, everyone visiting Murthy’s Confectionaries finds ample personal space. And we have got our interiors right too. For instance, imagine a bakery store with a 19-feet wide and 7-feet tall waterfall. Plus, well-landscaped outdoors with chairs to begin a binge session without waiting to reach home. And guess what, we have an actual Cocoa Tree growing here. Kids might be our happiest visitors, you’d think. But drop in to our store some day, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll meet the kid within you too! |

The Captains
It is this enterprising spirit and creative experimentation in both product development and customer service at Murthy’s Confectionaries that has helped us melt the hearts of our 5 to 80-year-old customers.
Mr. Kumar Murthy took over the reins of the business and completely mechanised the in-house chocolate manufacturing processes. Seeing the lack of indigenously developed machinery for chocolate manufacturing in India, he responded by designing and custom manufacturing them himself. This was in a huge way, a rebirth of Murthy’s because this transformed us from a dominantly retail-oriented confectionary firm to a fully-dedicated chocolate and confectionary producer. One of his most treasured qualities is his strict and personal involvement in the quality control area. That, we think, is the secret of the trust customers have in us. |
Mr. Kumar’s perfectionist drive and engineering ingenuity has met ample boost in his son Vikram’s business vision and active diversification initiatives. In fact, over the past 10 years, Vikram has successfully launched almost 75% of our product line. A management professional, Vikram still loves to attend workshops and seminars related to confectionary manufacturing. Ever enthusiastic and ready to learn and teach, he has shared his industry knowledge and management expertse with quite a few students at management institutes in Pune. An uncompromising professional, he has procured a host of testing and quality control equipment from the US. “If it’s not quality, it doesn’t go to the customer,” he says succinctly.
One would imagine it’s a good thing when all you do for a living is think, talk, taste and manufacture chocolates, cakes and biscuits all day. The perfect job, right? Well, yes, except that we have to use a lot of will power to stay put in our cabins. And that while the rich aroma of our attractive delicacies wafts in softly from our 3-storied kitchen! Ooooh! yummy !! |
